An aggregation of deficiencies allows management to determine whether there is a concentration of deficiencies over a particular business process, account or assertion.
Individual deficiencies may not be significant or indicate a material weakness, but the significance can change when combined with other deficiencies. Assessing the interaction of deficiencies with each other is important since it helps to highlight patterns that could impact the same group accounts, thus rising to the level of a significant deficiency or even a material weakness.
