Advertising media that are distributed with or without a carrying
publication such as ad pre-prints, catalogs, postcards or trial samples.
- Advertising media that are distributed in a carrying publication can be inserted, bundled or bound.
- Advertising media that are not distributed in a carrying publication are also known as direct-distribution advertising.
A distinction is made in the system between as inserts of the ad insert item type and those of the
distribution item type.
- Ad inserts describe the type, shape and weight of advertising media.
- Ad inserts that are distributed in a carrying publication are reproduced in the ad insert item type.
- Ad inserts that are distributed without a carrying publication are reproduced in the distribution item type.
