Tab page MDMP_Unicode in transaction SM59 contains various code page handling settings.
You can make the following settings for code pages:
Communication type with target system
Here, you specify whether the RFC Destination is a Unicode system or a non-Unicode (MDMP) system. Using the pushbutton Unicode Test you can call this information from the target system.
You can select various options for non-Unicode destinations:
Code Page from Client-Sided Logon Language
If you select this option then that code page is used which is assigned to the logon language on the client side.
Explicit Code Page
With this option you can define a fixed code page for this destination.
MDMP active
If you select this option then you can maintain the related assignment lists of code pages using the Details button.
Character Conversion
Here, you define how conversion errors are handled:
RFC continues despite conversion errors, with non-convertible characters being replaced by replacement character '#' (default).
RFC terminates for conversion errors (short dump).
RFC ignores conversion errors where non-convertible characters are replaced by a freely-selected replacement character.
Here, you can find information about the preconfigured code pages in the SAP system:
