Creating Hierarchies for Classification
Extraction
Prerequisites
You have launched the SAP BW Administrator Workbench and are in Modeling. You have created an application component.
Procedure
1. Create Transfer Rules
1. Below the application component you created in Creating InfoObjects for Classification Extraction ® Creating InfoSources, you will see a list of CAF categories
2. Select CAF categories (Hierarchies) with the secondary mouse button and go to Additional Functions ® Create Transfer Rules.
3. In the dialog box, open the available source systems list (data types which provide BW with data) and select PC_FILE.
4. Choose Transfer.
5. When prompted to save changes, do the following:
○ Choose No for the DataSource assignement with the “ATTR” suffix since a DataSource for attributes is not necessary.
○ Choose Yes for the DataSources with the suffixes “TEXT” and “HIER”.
6. In the InfoSource editor:
a. enable the PSA indicator (transfer method) and activate the InfoSource
b. select the DataSource with the suffix “HIER” and indicate PSA as the transfer method, then activate the object.
2. Create Hierarchies
1. In the DataSource/Trans. Structure tab page, choose Hier. Structure to edit hierarchical definitions.
2. In the Create Hierarchy dialog box, enter the following then choose Continue:
○ Hierarchy name
○ Short description
3. In the hierarchy maintainance screen, enable the Resolve Leaf Values and Node InfoObjects indicator and choose Continue and then Yes.
