Alert Monitoring with CCMSLocate this document in the navigation structure


SAP Gateway is monitored automatically within the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) in Start of the navigation path SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors Next navigation step All Monitoring Contexts Next navigation step SAP Gateway Applications End of the navigation path and in Start of the navigation path SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors Next navigation step All Monitoring Contexts Next navigation step SAP Gateway General Components End of the navigation path.

In the monitoring process, information is collected about SAP Gateway, and this information can be viewed in transaction RZ20. Here you can see which applications are in use, and how often they are called up. The information is updated hourly and relates to today’s date, since on the first collection after midnight all values are initialized once they have been read out.


All the nodes mentioned here may not appear immediately; they appear when the first alert is created by an agent. So, if alerts exist, the corresponding sub-nodes are available. In other words, agents only become visible after an alert has been published.

You can find the following information:

  • SAP Gateway General Components

  • Monitor for SAP Gateway applications.

    Here monitors from the different applications can be included, depending on what the applications want to log.

You can use report /IWFND/SUTIL_CCMS_INITIAL_LOG to generate the two CCMS context trees SAP Gateway Applications and SAP Gateway General Components. Both contexts are built according to the structure defined in the implementation guide (IMG). So the structure and the display of the monitors depends on your configuration settings in the IMG: In transaction SPRO open the SAP Gateway Reference IMG and navigate to Start of the navigation path SAP Gateway Next navigation step OData Channel Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step Logging Settings Next navigation step Customizing of the SAP Gateway CCMS Context End of the navigation path. Here you can maintain nodes in the CCMS context for up to four languages.

The contexts contain all agents which are used either by the SAP Gateway framework or by an application (for which the corresponding agents have been configured) at runtime to report severe problems.

Handling Alerts

To view the alerts for a particular component, select the component, choose Open alerts and double-click on the Messages node. The list of alerts is displayed.

Alerts are always stored in the Messages node of an agent.

Double-click on the Messages node to open the alert list.

To view the details of an alert, that is, the long text eventually provided for an alert, select an alert row and choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Alert description End of the navigation path. The long text for the alert is displayed.

Double-click on an alert to open the Application Log protocol for the alert.

You can also navigate from an alert to the Error Log entry in order to facilitate the root cause analysis.

Alerts issued on the hub have a direct connection to the error log entry via the transaction id. Note that this feature is not supported on the backend.

If you have declared one system as the central monitoring system in your system landscape, the SAP Gateway framework and applications are monitored automatically in CCMS.
