Service MaintenanceLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Use the Service Maintenance function in the Service Builder to register and maintain each service in an SAP Gateway system. This function also enables you to maintain services created and redefined directly in the Service Builder (in an SAP Business Suite back-end system) as opposed to navigating to another system such as an SAP Gateway hub system. The Service Maintenance offers the following functions:

  • Register the service in an SAP Gateway system.

  • View all the SAP Gateway systems in which the service is registered.

  • Navigating to SAP Gateway Client from Service Builder

  • View the error log of the service in the registered SAP Gateway systems.

  • View the service document.

  • View the service activation status of the service in the registered SAP Gateway systems.

Prerequisites

The SAP Gateway systems in which you want to register the service must be configured under the following path: Start of the navigation path SPRO Next navigation step SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step SAP Gateway Service Enablement Next navigation step Backend OData Channel Next navigation step Connection Settings to SAP Gateway Next navigation step SAP Gateway Settings.  End of the navigation path.

Procedure

To maintain a service in the Service Builder, proceed as follows:

  1. Log onto the SAP Gateway system.

  2. Open transaction SEGW.

    The SAP Gateway Service Builder opens.

  3. Create a new project. See Getting Started with the Service Builder for more information.

  4. Generate the service if the service it is not already generated. See How to Generate Services for information about generating services.

  5. Expand the Service Maintenance folder in the tree view to view the list of configured SAP Gateway hub systems.

    Double-click the Service Maintenance folder to view the configured systems in the mass maintenance view.

  6. The mass maintenance view displays the following details:

    System

    These systems are the SAP Gateway hub systems configured in Start of the navigation path SPRO Next navigation step SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step SAP Gateway Service Enablement Next navigation step Backend OData Channel Next navigation step Connection Settings to SAP Gateway Next navigation step SAP Gateway Settings in the SAP Gateway. End of the navigation path

    Client

    The client of the SAP Gateway hub system.

    RFC Destination

    The RFC destination of the SAP Gateway hub system.

    Registration Status

    Indicator that represents the registration status of the service in the selected system. The statuses are as follows:

    • Service Registered from this system - The service is registered from the current system.

    • Service with the same name registered from another system - There may be instances when a service with the same name as your service is already registered in the target SAP NetWeaver system. In such instances this status is shown.

    • Service not registered - The service is not yet not registered in this system. You can proceed and register the service in the current system.

    • Could not retrieve the registration status - There may be instances when the target system's status could not be retrieved due to some technical reasons, for example, due to system unavailability or authorization failure.

  7. Right click the system in which you would like to register the service and select Register.

    Alternatively, you can select the system and click Register in the mass maintenance view.

    Note

    A message displays notifying that for Register, Maintain and viewing Error Logs you will be redirected to the selected systems.

    The Select System Alias window displays.

    Note

    The System Alias window displays only if there is more than one system that points to the system from which you are trying to register the service. If only one system applies, the System Alias window is not displayed since this system is selected as default.

  8. Select the system by using the input help available for this field.

  9. Click Continue. Add Service window displays. The details about the selected window is displayed in this window.

  10. Enter valid package details in Package field.

  11. Click Continue.

    The service is registered and the registration status turns green in the selected system.

  12. In the mass maintenance view, click on SAP Gateway Client to launch SAP Gateway Client.

    Note

    For project of type Annotation Model for Referenced Service after registering the service, in the mass maintenance view, click Maintain ServiceStart of the navigation path Load Metadata End of the navigation path and then click SAP Gateway Client to launch SAP Gateway.

    SAP Gateway Client is open with a pre-filled request Request URI.

    Example
    • Request URI example for project type Service with SAP Annotations and Service with Vocabulary-Based Annotations:

      /sap/opu/odata/sap/<service name>/

    • Request URI example for project type Annotation Model for Referenced Service :

      /sap/opu/odata/iwfnd/catalogservice/Annotations(TechnicalName='<MDL_NAME>',Version='<Version>')/$value

  13. You can also perform the following functions in the mass maintenance view:

    1. Choose Maintain to open the Maintain Services window. See Activate and Maintain Services for more information.

    2. Select a system, and click the Error Log button to view the error log for the service in the selected system.

      Note

      Error logs for the current service are displayed for all users on the current date.
