 Effects on Processes in EWM

Use

You can use the catch weight profile to set whether entering the catch weight quantity is required. In the warehouse process type, you can also set whether entering the catch weight quantity is required when you confirm warehouse tasks.

Prerequisites

In Customizing for the warehouse process type, you can specify whether the quantity is a mandatory entry field. To do this, set the indicator Catch Weight Quantity Required for WT Confirmation . Features

Goods Movements

For all goods movements, the system updates both product quantities (base quantity and parallel quantity) for catch weight products.

If you have not entered a catch weight quantity, the system uses the average from the source stock for goods movement. If you have entered a catch weight quantity, the system uses the exact quantity for goods movement.

Warehouse Tasks

You can only enter a catch weight quantity if you are dealing with a warehouse task that is confirmed immediately, when creating warehouse tasks. Otherwise, you cannot enter a catch weight quantity when creating warehouse tasks. (See also: Units of Measure )

Example

Below is an example showing how the system handles accuracy in the storage bins according to your entries.

1. You have the following bin inventory of a catch weight product:

Logistic Quantity

Catch Weight Quantity

Accuracy

10 pc

11 KG

Exact

After confirming a warehouse task immediately while entering 5 pc and 5.7 KG, the stock in the storage bin looks as follows:

Logistic Quantity

Catch Weight Quantity

Accuracy

Source Storage Bin

5 pc

5.3 KG

Exact

Target Storage Bin

5 pc

5.7 KG

Exact

After confirming a warehouse task immediately without entering a catch weight quantity, the stock in the storage bin looks as follows:

Logistic Quantity

Catch Weight Quantity

Accuracy

Source Storage Bin

5 pc

5.5 KG

Not exact

Target Storage Bin

5 pc

5.5 KG

Not exact

2. You have the following bin inventory of a catch weight product:

Logistic Quantity

Catch Weight Quantity

Accuracy

10 pc

11 KG

Not exact

After confirming a warehouse task immediately while entering 5 pc and 5.7 KG, the stock in the storage bin looks as follows:

Logistic Quantity

Catch Weight Quantity

Accuracy

Source Storage Bin

5 pc

5.3 KG

Not exact

Target Storage Bin

5 pc

5.7 KG

Exact

After confirming a warehouse task immediately without entering a catch weight quantity, the stock in the storage bin looks as follows:

Logistic Quantity

Catch Weight Quantity

Accuracy

Source Storage Bin

5 pc

5.5 KG

Not exact

Target Storage Bin

5 pc

5.5 KG

Not exact

If you enter the catch weight quantity, by weighing for example, the system writes the exact value to the stock of the target storage bin. If you do not enter a catch weight quantity, the system writes the average from the source storage bin to the stock of the target storage bin.

Handling Units

In connection with handling units (HUs), you can change the catch weight quantity in the inbound delivery process before goods receipt posting when forming the HU. This means that this newly entered quantity may differ from the notified delivery quantity. The system then corrects the delivery quantity during the actual goods receipt posting.

You can post any identified differences at the work center, which then changes the catch weight quantity, and you can enter the catch weight quantity directly in repacking.

Example

You have an inbound delivery containing two pieces each weighing one kilogram. In your warehouse, you weigh the individual items prior to goods receipt posting, and determine that both items weigh 1.5 KG. You enter this change when forming the HU items. During goods receipt posting, the system changes the catch weight quantity in the delivery to two pieces with a total weight of 3 kilograms.
