 Catch Weight in Physical Inventory

Use

Extended Warehouse Management (EMW) uses catch weight to support the execution of physical inventories for catch weight products.

Prerequisites

You have established tolerance groups for the physical inventory.

For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Extended Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Internal Warehouse Processes Next navigation step Physical Inventory Next navigation step Warehouse-Number-Specific Settings Next navigation step Define Tolerance Groups End of the navigation path .

Features

Tolerance Groups

Catch weight results in the following changes for the tolerance groups for the Difference Analyzer:

  • Tolerance groups for the Difference Analyzer:

In this case, the value-based tolerance for catch weight products is not based on the logistics unit of measure but rather on the catch weight unit of measure.

For more information about tolerance groups for the Difference Analyzer , see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Extended Warehouse Management Start of the navigation path under Internal Warehouse Processes Next navigation step Physical Inventory Next navigation step Warehouse-Number-Specific Settings Next navigation step Define Tolerance Groups Next navigation step Define Tolerance Group for Difference Analyzer. End of the navigation path

  • Tolerance group for posting differences:

In this case, the value-based tolerance for catch weight products is not based on the logistics unit of measure but rather on the catch weight unit of measure. Moreover, for catch weight products, the permitted quantity-based tolerance as a percentage is based not only on the logistics unit of measure, but also on the catch weight unit of measure.

For more information about tolerance groups for the Difference Analyzer , see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Extended Warehouse Management Start of the navigation path under Internal Warehouse Processes Next navigation step Physical Inventory Next navigation step Warehouse-Number-Specific Settings Next navigation step Define Tolerance Groups Next navigation step Define Tolerance Group for Posting Differences. End of the navigation path

  • Tolerance group for recounting:

The same applies here as for the tolerance groups for posting differences.

For more information about tolerance groups for the Difference Analyzer , see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Extended Warehouse Management Start of the navigation path under Internal Warehouse Processes Next navigation step Physical Inventory Next navigation step Warehouse-Number-Specific Settings Next navigation step Define Tolerance Groups Next navigation step Define Tolerance Group for Recounting. End of the navigation path

Creating, Processing, and Printing Physical Inventory Documents

Catch weight does not result in any differences in the creation of physical inventory documents. When processing physical inventory documents, especially for the count entry, the logistics and catch weight quantities are both entered for catch weight products. The system displays the book inventory quantity in both the logistics unit of measure and the catch weight unit of measure.

The inventory count results can be entered in two different ways.

  • Manually: the counter records both quantities on paper and then enters them into the system. For more information, see Physical Inventory .

  • Via radio frequency: the inventory count results are recorded directly in the system. For more information, see Physical Inventory Using Radio Frequency .

For both methods, the system takes both the logistics quantity and the catch weight quantity into account for catch weight products.

Price Determination

For price determination, the determined and displayed price relates to the catch weight unit of measure. For non-catch-weight products, the price relates to the logistics unit of measure.

Automatic Determination of Quantity Counted for Catch Weight Products

In Customizing, you can use the Entering Catch Weight Quantity Is Not Allowed checkbox to specify that the user must not enter the catch weight quantity manually. In this case, only the logistics quantity can be entered for the physical inventory and the system determines the corresponding catch weight quantity automatically in the background (using predetermined suggested conversion factors between logistics unit of measure and catch weight unit of measure).

To activate this function, set this checkbox at the warehouse number level in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Extended Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Internal Warehouse Processes Next navigation step Physical Inventory Next navigation step Warehouse-Number-Specific Settings Next navigation step Reason and Priority Next navigation step Define Reason for Physical Inventory. End of the navigation path

Difference Analysis

For analyzing differences in the Difference Analyzer , the system displays both the logistics quantity and the catch weight quantity for the catch weight products and takes both quantities into account when posting differences to the ERP system. You can control the display of the catch weight quantity by establishing cross-warehouse or warehouse-specific catch weight profiles.

For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Extended Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Product Next navigation step Catch Weight Next navigation step Define Catch Weight Profile for Catch Weight Quantities End of the navigation path .

Note Note

To ensure stock security, you cannot use the correction function in the Difference Analyzer to change differences that occur during the physical inventory.

End of the note.
