The CRM product is used to represent the Intellectual Property. A separate product type (04: Intellectual Property) is available in CRM, in which IPM-specific enhancements to the CRM product can be made.

To ensure that IPM enhancements can be made, the Intellectual Property: Distribution (0IPM_PROD) InfoObject is used. This is updated from the InfoSource for the CRM Product (Attribute) 0CRM_PRODUCT_ATTR. Additional updates can be used to add IPM-specific InfoSources to the Intellectual Property as required.

Restriction to CRM product type 04 takes place when the master data target is updated.

IP Distribution

The IP for distribution is always used in data targets if distribution of values according to the IP is possible. The IP for distribution is not necessarily the same as the IP for the royalties item.

The interlinkage relationships assigned to the IP are made available as hierarchies for the IP in BW:

Media Title and IP

The media title is represented using an IP in IPM, by assigning a hierarchy to an IP that has been defined as a title using additional IPs. The hierarchy for the title can use several interlinkage relationships to represent the title structure.

Hierarchies of the interlinkage relationships for the IP are made available to represent the media title. The title hierarchy determines the title hierarchy from all interlinkages involved.

Note on Usage of Hierarchies

Hierarchies of the PSA hierarchy type are used. These use the RFC transfer method and enable data to be loaded using PSA. Since the transfer structure for the PSA hierarchy consists of several segments, it is not possible to supply the assignment between the transfer structure (DataSource) and the communication structure (InfoSource). If you want to use hierarchies, you must create the assignment of fields in the transfer structure to InfoObjects in the communication structure manually.

To do so, proceed as follows: Assign the DataSources for the hierarchies to the InfoSource for the 0IPM_PROD InfoObject.

Change the transfer rules as follows: You can retain the assignment of transfer fields to the communication structure in the header segment that is proposed by the system. Access the Hierarchy Node segment within the hierarchy DataSource and create an assignment for each hierarchy DataSource according to the assignment table shown below.
