Background documentationSimplified Reporting for Project System (PS) Locate this document in the navigation structure

SAP delivers a number of objects to facilitate simplified reporting in the Project System (PS) component.

You need to be aware of the following:

  • The following standard PS hierarchy types are supported by default:

    • Standard selection (structure) (01)

    • Standard selection (profit center) (02)

    • Standard selection (cost center hier) (03)

    • Standard selection (sales view) (06)

The reports are based on these standard hierarchy types and use the following database profiles by default:

    • Standard selection (structure) (000000000001)

    • Standard selection (profit center) (000000000002)

    • Standard selection (cost center hier) (000000000003)

    • Standard selection (sales view) (000000000006)

  • If you use access control lists (ACL), you need to add the user used for data extraction (in most cases this is ALEREMOTE) to the ACL of the PS objects. This enables the data extraction. For more information about ACL, see SAP Library for SAP ERP Central Component on SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com   Financials   Project System   Access Control List

  • You can only access transaction data via direct access. All master data (including hierarchies) must be extracted to the SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) system. For more information about direct access, see SAP Library for SAP NetWeaver on SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com  BI Content   SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse   Data Warehousing   Modeling   Architected Data Mart Layer   Modeling Direct Data Access

  • In the ABAP reports used previously, users had been able to use interval values to select all the objects within the specified range. This is now no longer possible.

  • The system displays the complete hierarchy tree, beginning with the root node. For example, if you select a single WBS the report displays the entire hierarchy tree starting from the root node. If you select a single network activity and this network is assigned to a WBS the report displays the network activity as a subordinate node of the WBS in the complete hierarchy tree.

  • If you specify a WBS as one of the selection criteria, the result includes the key figures for both the specified WBS and the parent WBS. To view the key figures for the specified WBS only, you need to run the report twice. First you need to specify the WBS and run the report. You need to keep the results window open. In a new window, you need to run the report again, this time you do not specify a WBS (leave the WBS field empty). The results for this report now contain the key figures from the parent WBS only. You need to compare these two results to identify the key figures from the WBS that you specified in the first report.
