You can use this characteristic to evaluate PIPE data using RemoteCubes. The PIPE remote DataSources provide six different fields, each of which can be used to implement a task status as a selection field for the evaluation of the transaction data. A selection request for remote evaluations of the PIPE transaction database (table TLOG) can consist of evaluating all data that has a certain task status for a particular task. For example, all transaction data that has status "Ready" for task 0005 (Supply the Old POS Content in BW), that is, all data that is not yet processed.

You set the task status of the characteristic in Customizing. In Customizing, choose  SAP Reference IMG --> SAP NetWeaver --> SAP Business Intelligence --> Settings for BI Content --> Trade Industries --> Retailing --> POS Data Warehouse Management and then  POS Inbound Processing --> Integration with Other SAP Components --> SAP Business Information Warehouse --> Access of Remote Cubes to Transaction Database . For each DataSource, you specify the task to which the characteristic is assigned.
