APO External Cost Function (SNP)

Use

Used by the optimizer to calculate the costs of procurement, production, or transportation of varying product quantities that have been defined in intervals using the maintenance functions.

The cost function in the product master specifies the procurement costs.
The cost function in the PPM specifies the production costs.
The cost function in the transportation lanes in the SCE specifies the transportation costs.

Example

You specify a quantity interval of 22,000 to 33,000 pieces with fixed costs of 44,000. The quantity proposed by the optimizer for procurement, production, or transportation is 25,000 pieces. The following calculation determines the costs used by the optimizer.

33,000 + 44,000 x (25,000 – 22,000)
