This query provides, for each material involved in sale transactions, the transaction count for regular sale transactions and the transaction count for promotion sale transactions as well as the corresponding sales figures.
The purpose of this query is to assist the Category Manager/Buyer in the planning process. The transaction count information will allow the user to understand how many items are being purchased simultaneously. Having the transaction count information available within a report will allow the user the ability to review the information based on various parameters (for example, user will be able to select different time periods, locations, etc. in which to view the report information).
Once the query is executed, the user can drill down results per country, region, year, year/month and promotion type.
This query opens up much information for the user to report upon. The user can select the following query parameters: materials, material groups, locations and dates.
Analyzing Market Basket information provides details and insight for the user into the transaction data of all sales over a given period of time.
Users can use this information to understand the transaction data, which can help the user understand the following sorts of questions:
When Item A is purchased, what are the other Items that also get purchased?
When an Item from X category is purchased, from what other categories are they also purchasing items?
Are buying patterns seasonal?
Do consumers tend to buy the same products in spring that they do in fall?
How different are the buying patterns at various locations?
What are the products my North East consumer are purchasing together versus the products my North West consumers are purchasing?
