 1.6 Testing a Process (Portal)

Use

In this lesson you make various checks in the portal environment for process ZTPR.

Procedure

  1. Check whether process ZTPR is visible in the start application of the HR Administrator role.

You integrated the process into the start application in the Creating a Process step.

  2. Check whether the form is displayed when you open it in processing mode.

You checked the consistency of the process and the embedded form scenarios in the Checking Process Consistency step.

    • If the form is not displayed, check whether the form is activated in the Form Builder .

    • If the form is active or is not displayed or incorrectly displayed, check whether the form is available in the correct language (log-on language).

  3. Check the interaction options in the form.

    • Check whether the calendar is displayed by the input help for fields with date specifications, and whether you can correctly fill these fields.

    • Check whether the default values are displayed correctly.

    • Check whether the input helps contain the correct values.

    • Check whether the display fields are really only displayed but not ready for input.

If errors occur, you can check the following:

    • Is the correct ISR element used? Check the settings for the ISR element.

    • Is the connection between the field in the form and the related field in the form scenario correct? You set up this connection in the Form Builder .

    • Is the connection between the field in the form scenario and the back-end field correct? You set up this connection in the IMG activity Start of the navigation path Configuration of Forms/Processes Next navigation step Form Configuration Next navigation step Edit Form Scenario for Personnel Administration Infotypes (SAP_PA) End of the navigation path .

  4. Check whether you can send the form.

If errors occur or if you cannot send the form, you can check the following:

    • Check the settings in the Workflow Builder (status, processor and so on).

    • In the HR Administrative Services IMG, you can check the consistency of processes. Choose the activity Start of the navigation path Configuration of Forms/Processes Next navigation step Process Configuration Next navigation step Check the Process Configuration Consistency End of the navigation path .

For more information, see Checking Process Consistency .

    • In the HR Administrative Services IMG there is also a test program. Choose the activity Start of the navigation path Configuration of Forms/Processes Next navigation step Process Configuration Next navigation step Test Process End of the navigation path .

  5. Check whether the form appears in the assigned processor’s inbox.

If the form does not appear in the inbox, it could be for various reasons. You can make different checks to determine the cause.

    • It could be that no process object was created. In this case the workflow does not start and therefore does not appear in the inbox. In Case Management (transaction SCASE), first check whether the process object was created.

    • If a process object was created in Case Management the workflow should have started. Check the workflow log for any error messages in the process flow between the start of the workflow and the form appearing in the inbox.

  6. Choose the work item in the assigned processor’s inbox, and choose Send in the form application.

Then check whether the data is changed in the back-end system.
