Purpose

The Portal Content Studio provides a central environment for developing and managing the following types of portal content:

·        iViews

·        pages

·        layouts

·        roles

·        worksets

·        business objects

·        business object operations

The content creation tools available in the Portal Content Studio enable novice and expert content developers to create all types of content based on an organization’s data resources, systems and applications.

The Portal Content Studio serves a wide spectrum of portal users. Beginner users can use existing iView templates to create their own content by supplying necessary iView properties. In addition, they can create simple portal pages by assigning existing and self-created content. Advanced users, such as content experts and managers, can create advanced portal pages and iViews using the many tools offered in the Portal Content Studio.

Integration

The Portal Content Studio integrates content management and maintenance in a single user interface:

·        Content management: a browse and search tool enables you to view and manage portal content stored in Portal Content Directory (PCD). User access to content is restricted by the permissions assigned to each object. For more information, see Portal Catalog.

·        Content maintenance: wizards, editors, and user interfaces enable you to create and edit portal content. For more information, see Object Editors & Wizards in the Portal Content Studio.
