Article Reclassification
Use
Use this function to assign individual articles belonging to a different merchandise category, without first having to create a reclassification version.
Integration
The function assigns an article to a different merchandise category or a characteristics profile. You can also split a merchandise category by creating a new merchandise category and moving a certain quantity of articles from the existing one into the new one.
If you want to change the assignment of a large number of articles or merchandise categories, then proceed as detailed in
Reclassifying Articles and Merchandise Categories.
Prerequisites
This function can only be used for articles created using the article master maintenance function in SAP Retail.
The following article categories can be reclassified:
- Generic articles with variants
The following limitations are valid:
- No historical data is changed automatically, not even in the Information System.
- Neighboring systems and their documents (for example, FI, CO, HR) are not changed and therefore remain unaffected by reclassification.
- Conditions which have been defined for source and/or target objects remain entirely unchanged. A condition that has been defined for a merchandise category, for example, will continue to apply for all the articles in this merchandise category. So if an article is moved to a different merchandise category, it will be subject to the condition already defined for this target merchandise category.
- Closed purchase orders and/or purchase order items (including the document archive) are not changed.
Features
The system helps you select articles and new merchandise categories.
- You can determine the characteristic profile automatically or enter a new characteristic profile. If you use the automatic method, the system adopts the article characteristic that may already exist in the target merchandise category. The characteristic values in the source must be defined in the target in full. When you reclassify an article containing the characteristic Color and the values red, green and yellow for a merchandise category that recognized the Color characteristic but for which only black and white are recognized values, the system does not adopt the characteristics.
- You can decide which subsequent activities are to be processed by the system. The following activities are possible:
The system checks in which open orders the article appears and changes, if necessary, the assignment of the appropriate order items to the merchandise category.
The system checks in which allocation tables the article appears and changes, if necessary, the assignment of the appropriate allocation table items to the merchandise category. You can exclude allocation tables from this, however.
- Create new listing conditions
The system checks if listing conditions are required for the article. If they are required, the system creates them.
- Change old listing conditions
The system checks if listing conditions exist for the article. If they do not exist, the system creates them.
- You can enter a listing method for the reclassified article.
- You can enter if a test run is to be processed without posting any data. Regardless of the method, the system creates a log containing details of the individual activities.
- You can save the settings made in the selection screen for this function as variants and upload them whenever necessary.
- You can also run reclassification in the background and schedule them for a specific time period.
