Procedure documentation Configuring Virtual SAP Systems Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Prerequisites

You may not want to install all the SAP Systems you have planned for your system landscape at the same time. However, you can use TMS to configure SAP Systems as virtual systems in the transport domain so that you can model the transport routes of your whole system landscape.

Most of the TMS display functions can be used for virtual systems.

Note

You can also configure SAP Systems as virtual systems that do not yet have Release 3.1G. After you have upgraded the system to Release 3.1G (or higher) you can replace the virtual system with an installed SAP System.

Procedure

To configure a virtual system:

  1. Log on to the SAP system that functions as the transport domain controller.
  2. Call Transaction STMS.
  3. Choose Overview ® Systems.

The system overview appears.

  1. Choose SAP System ® Create ® Virtual system.

The dialog box TMS: Configure Virtual System appears.

  1. Enter the name and a short description of the SAP System.

The domain controller is proposed as the communications system.

Note

The communications system is required to act as a substitute for accessing the transport directory.

  1. Save your entries and confirm that you want to distribute the configuration change to all real SAP Systems.
