Purpose

This function enables you to map Web-based succession planning processes. The SAP system provides support in the following succession planning activities:

You create a support team, which together defines the requirements of a key job or position.

You describe the requirements of the key job or position for which a successor is required.

You create processes for Succession Planning. The processes contain the activities that succession planners perform in Succession Planning.

You determine which candidates can be potential successors and the willingness of these candidates to be successors. You then identify interesting candidates as planned successors.

You trigger individual development measures for potential successors.

You create a preliminary or final succession plan that is discussed at the Talent Review Meeting.

You keep in touch with candidates of interest. To do this, you use Talent Relationship Management activities.

You structure the Talent Pool (the database of candidates currently being considered as potential successors) to suit your requirements.

Implementation Considerations

You can run Succession Planning and Recruitment fully integrated on one machine, on the basis of SAP ECC 6.0. When you do so, the SAP Business Partner concept enables you to make HR master data and organizational data available to other applications.

You can also run Succession Planning and Recruitment on one machine, and SAP ECC 6.0 on a separate instance. In this case, ALE distribution enables you to make your enterprise structure available in SAP E-Recruiting: The system automatically creates a candidate in SAP E-Recruiting for each employee in the form of the SAP Business Partner.

Integration

The solution is part of the SAP E-Recruiting component and uses some of the same objects, infotypes, and roles as Recruitment.

The objects are kept separate from one another by means of technical settings, so that both processes can be mapped independent of one another.

Constraints

We currently only support identification of internal candidates as successors.
