Password Management with DBMS User ManagementLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

DBMS user management does not solve the problem of password management. It does enable you to set the initial password at the same time. It cannot help you keep those passwords synchronized.

Example

A new user logs on to SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP for the first time. The user must change his or her initial password to a productive password. The password used by this user in the DBMS is still initial. From this point the passwords are already out of synch.

SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP and the DBMS have independent security policies for passwords. We recommend that you make these security policies as similar as possible. Likewise the systems have independent mechanisms for locking passwords.
