Use

You can make various settings on the configuration screen for system logon. These are explained in more detail below.

Example

Example of configuration screen for the system logon:

Table 1: Configuration Screen

Area Settings Selection

You can decide whether you want to use the global settings to display the logon screen and for the logon process, or if you want to configure individual parameters especially for this service. To do this, choose the corresponding radio button. If you select the option for the global settings, the lower fields are not ready for input because the default settings are used. If you select the option for service-specific settings, you can make additional settings in the lower part of the screen.

As an administrator you can also change the global settings yourself. To do this you need to have the S_ADMI_FCD authorization object in your user master record, with which the S_ADMI_FCD attribute is set to ICFA.

Note

As an administrator you can make the global settings in any service node. Save the global settings by choosing Save as Global Settings. This pushbutton is only displayed if you have the relevant administration authorizations.

Area System Logon Settings

Select Display

System ID

The logon screen displays the three-digit SAP system ID of the system in which the application is started.

Client

The logon screen contains an input field for the client in which the application should be started.

You can assign a default value to the content of the field. To do this, select the Client field in the Default area.

Language

A dropdown list box is displayed on the logon screen with the languages installed in the system.

You can assign a default value to the content of the field. To do this, select the Language field in the Default area.

System messages

After logging on successfully, the user will see the current system messages (created using Transaction SM02).

Logon and system information

After logging on successfully, the user will see the current system messages (created using Transaction SM02).

Actions During Logon

Protocol selection

The logon procedure can be as follows:

  • Logon via HTTPS

This procedure is usually the most secure.

  • Switch to HTTPS

  • Cannot switch

The logon takes place using the HTTP protocol only. The user name and password are sent unencrypted.

    Caution

The unencrypted transfer of name and password is a security risk.

Do Not Display Warnings

Error messages are displayed during logon, but no warning messages.

Check for Multiple Logons

Following a successful logon, the system checks whether the user has already logged onto the system using HTTP/HTTPS using his or her user ID. In the case of multiple logons, the existing sessions are listed in a table and the user has three options to continue:

  • Continue with this logon and end all existing logons

  • Continue with this logon without ending all existing logons

  • Cancel this logon

Support Accessibility

A checkbox is placed on the logon screen, which the user can use to request (accessibility-specific) input help.

The logon procedure itself is always accessible.

Caution

This indicator does not make a statement about the accessibility of the application itself. The developer of the respective application is responsible for its accessibility.

Default

Client

The client specified here is used to assign a default value for the Client field on the logon screen. If no client is displayed on the logon screen, then the application is started on the client specified here. If this field remains empty and if no client input field is displayed on the logon screen, then the application is started on the client specified in the login/system_client parameter (also refer to Profile Parameters for Logon and Password (Logon Parameters)).

Language

The language specified here is displayed as the preselected logon language on the logon screen. If no language is displayed on the logon screen, then the application is started in the language specified here. If this field remains empty and if no language input field is displayed on the logon screen, then the application is started in the language according to logon language determination in the ICF.

Note

Note that the logon language is determined or proposed from the sources listed below: These sources are evaluated in the order below whereby the first in the list is the decisive source.

  1. URL parameter sap-language

  2. Default language in the setting for the system logon

  3. Web browser languages (Accept-Language)

  4. Default language of SAP system

The language is not evaluated from the user account in the SAP system.

The language you want must have been installed in your system.

Layout and Logon Procedure

SAP Implementation

SAP provides predefined layouts that you can use for the logon. For each of these layouts there are various stylesheet categories.

Custom Implementation

You can adjust the layout and the logon process to your user-specific requirements. To do this you need a new class, which is a subclass of the CL_ICF_SYSTEM_LOGIN class and implements the respective changes (refer to User-specific Changes).

Adjust Links and Images

You can select and adjust the links and images that you want to use for your specific logon. This includes URLs for additional links to company-defined specifications, such as general terms and conditions, contacts, or imprints. You can use these in the header or footer area instead of SAP standard images. You can also use your own copyright information.
