Procedure documentationOptional: Configuring Multiple File Upload Locate this document in the navigation structure

The Knowledge Management (KM) platform provides you with the option of uploading multiple files to a KM folder and applying certain properties to all of them in a single iteration. This option is enabled by default. Nevertheless, you can still work through some configuration steps to optimize the use of the multiple file upload.

Prerequisites

To use the multiple file upload feature you must have Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.6 Update 10 or higher installed with Enable the Next Generation Java Plug-in option activated.

Procedure

In the portal, navigate to   System Administration   System Configuration   Knowledge Management   Content Management  .

1. Configure the value of the maximum allowed property of the multiple file upload

You can optionally configure the maximum allowed number of files per upload according to your requirements.

  1. Choose   Content Management   Utilities   Multiple Files Upload

  2. Choose Edit and specify the required value for the Maximum number of files for upload property. The default value is 20.

2. Configure the file-specific and the common properties for the list of the selected files

You can optionally configure which properties are common for all of the files selected for upload and which properties are file-specific. For the multiple file upload, the type of the property (whether a property is file-specific or common for all of the selected files) depends on the current property structure of the current collection. If a property is directly included in the structure, it is considered file-specific. If a property is part of a property group (for example, all_groups group) and not directly included in the structure, it is considered common for all of the files selected for upload. For more information about modifying file-specific and common properties for a selection, see: Uploading Multiple Files to KM Folders

By default, only the Name and the Description properties are file-specific, whereas the rest of the properties are common. To change the default configuration, you need to either modify the default property structure, or assign another property structure to the multiple_upload command.

  • To change the default property structure of the current collection, proceed as follows:

    1. Choose   Global Services   Property Structures   Property Structure   Default

    2. Filter for the DefaultPropertiesStructure property structure, and open the structure for editing

    3. Edit the Structure items parameter according to your requirements.

For more information about modifying a property structure, see Property Structures.

  • To assign another property structure to the multiple_upload command, proceed as follows:

    1. Choose   User Interface   Commands   UI Commands  .

    2. Filter for the multiple_upload command, and open the command for editing.

    3. In the Parameters property input field, enter PropertyStructure=<structure_name>, where <structure_name> is the name of the property structure you want to assign to the multiple_upload command.
