Components
of SAP Communication Technology
Within the SAP environment, the need has arisen to link the classical technology that is written in ABAP with non-ABAP structures, to enable communication in both directions to occur without problems.
The following unit provides an overview of the different integration technologies supplied by SAP and explains the application area of each technology in the communication process.
The order in which the technologies are described reflects the chronological order in which they were developed, from data exchange using ABAP-based communication technologies (for example, IDocs, RFC, BAPI) to universally applicable Internet formats such as HTTP, HTTPS, XML and SOAP.
