Background documentationEnhancement of the Product Master and Business Transaction

As the number of attributes and set types required for financial service products (FS products) is very large, you can use an enhancement concept: You can create new attributes and set types and integrate these in both the product master and in business transactions.

The complete process is therefore supported by the system in the business transaction, from the enterprise-specific definition of products right through to a customer-specific instance of a product.

The following functions are available in the enhancement concept:

  • You can create new attributes and set types.

For more information about set types and attributes, see Set Types and Attributes.

  • To use new set types in the product master, you have to assign them to categories.

  • To integrate set types in business transactions, you can use the Easy Enhancement Workbench (EEW) or the Application Enhancement Tool (AET). The AET succeeds the EEW as a tool for creating structural enhancements in business transactions, for example field enhancements and table enhancements.

For more information, see Business Transaction Enhancements.

You can either integrate set types that you also use in the product master, or assign set types for processing only in the business transaction.

For more information, see Enhancement of the Business Transaction Using EEW.

    Caution Caution

Note that the set types delivered by SAP are already integrated in business transactions and you cannot change this integration.

For a list of the set types for FS products delivered by SAP, see Set Types for Financial Service Products.

    End of the caution.
  • To be able to distribute new set types to the connected back-end systems via SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure (SAP NetWeaver XI), you must manually enhance the XI interfaces.

For more information about the configuration of the ContractOrigination andLoanContractOrigination business scenarios and the corresponding XI content, see SAP Solution Manager.
