There are different ways to start the Application Enhancement Tool in the WebClient UI. Since the Application Enhancement Tool is integrated in the UI Configuration Tool, you start the UI Configuration Tool first, to access the Application Enhancement Tool.

Procedure

Starting the Tool in the UI Configuration of an Application

You can start the Application Enhancement Tool in the UI configuration of an application in the WebClient UI. Therefore, you need to enable the configuration mode in the general settings on the central personalization page of the WebClient UI. After you have enabled the configuration mode, you can choose one of the icons for the page configuration in the header area of the application. You then navigate to the page configuration. To start the Application Enhancement Tool, choose the Display Enhancements pushbutton in the Configurations block. You can choose the Create Field pushbutton if you want to directly create a new field. You can also open the page configuration, where you can configure the views in the current overview page. Here you can either choose the Display Enhancements pushbutton or you can directly choose the Create Table pushbutton.

Starting the Tool in the UI Configuration from the Navigation Bar

You can start the Application Enhancement Tool in the UI configuration that you access from the navigation bar in your system administrator role. In the Administration work center in the navigation bar, you can choose View Configuration. You navigate to the view configuration, where you can enter a UI component, and choose a view. To start the Application Enhancement Tool, you can choose the Create Field pushbutton.

Starting the Tool in the Navigation Bar

You can start the Application Enhancement Tool directly in the navigation bar of your system administrator role, by choosing Enhance Applications in the Administration work center. You navigate to the search page where you can search for enhancements.

The logical link to enhance applications (AXT-SEARCH) in the Administration work center (CT-ADM) is delivered in the standard system.

Starting the Tool from the Floorplan Manager for Web Dynpro ABAP

You can start the Application Enhancement Tool from the Floorplan Manager for Web Dynpro ABAP. For more information, see Floorplan Manager for Web Dynpro ABAP.

Example

You are logged on to the system as a sales professional. Choose Start of the navigation path Sales Cycle Next navigation step Sales Orders End of the navigation path. You see the search page where you can search for a sales order. Choose a sales order in the result list and navigate to the sales order overview page, by clicking the sales order ID. Choose the Show Configurable Areas icon and start the page configuration of the Sales Order Details area. Choose the Show Enhancements pushbutton to start the Application Enhancement Tool.
