You can use this function to record your working time in business transactions such as service requests.

Integration

The time recording function is integrated with service request (incident) and master service request (problem) transactions.

Prerequisites

You have assigned a service confirmation transaction type to the service request and master service request transaction type. The service confirmation transaction type will be used to automatically create a service confirmation during time recording. You can make the settings in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Start of the navigation path Transactions Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Define Transaction Types End of the navigation path by doing the following:

  • Select the service request or master service request transaction type and choose the business transaction category 116 - Service Process.

  • Enter the service confirmation transaction type used for time recording in the Trans. Type Confirm. (Transaction Type Confirmation) field.

You have activated the business function Sales and Service (CRM_SLS_SRV_1).

Features

  • When you enter your time spent working on a business transaction, the service product available in the transaction’s item is automatically copied into the time record as read-only information. You can enter start date and time, work duration, employee responsible, as well as additional data such as service and valuation type.

  • Once the first time record is saved, the system automatically creates a service confirmation as a follow-up transaction of the service request or master service request. The confirmation is created according to the copy-control settings defined in Customizing. Further time records in the same service request or master service request will be captured as items within the existing service confirmation.

  • You can enter time records at any time as long as the transaction is not in status Completed.

  • You can edit a time record as long as it has not been saved. After saving the time record, you must apply any necessary changes to the service confirmation to which the relevant service confirmation item is linked.
