Object documentationIT Item

An IT infrastructure component that defines a physical or logical entity.

You use this business object to keep track of items within your IT infrastructure. An IT item could be, for example, a computer monitor, a specific software program, or a server. You can view object details, such as the location of the object, as well as any relationships to other objects.

IT items can be installed in an installed base, which can, for example, represent a building, floor, or workplace.

Note Note

In the business role IT Service Professional, you can create IT items directly under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step IT Items End of the navigation path. As an alternative, you can create IT items using the general object creation function and assign the IT item object family manually.

End of the note.

Integration

If IT items are assigned to a request for change (RfC), the system can automatically update the IT items' statuses if the RfC status changes. For example, if you set an RfC's status to Implementation, the IT items reflect this with the corresponding status Change in progress.
