Collaboration uses the permissions concept provided by the SAP Web Application Server (Java). Therefore, the security recommendations and guidelines for permissions apply as described in the SAP Web Application Server (Java) security guide.

This permissions concept is based on roles that are valid throughout the portal, which are assigned to the users. To maintain roles on the SAP Web Application Server (Java), use the user administration console.

Standard Roles

The portal-wide permissions for using the Collaboration functions are contained in the following portal roles:

Portal Role

Description

System Administration

This portal role contains specific administration functions for Collaboration as a part of Knowledge Management.

For example, a system administrator configures the services and the room infrastructure.

Content Administration

This portal role provides access to administration functions specific to Collaboration, for example:

·         Configuration for making collaboration services available

·         Administration of templates for rooms and room parts

·         Configuration of the room infrastructure

You can also access specific administration functions for portal content and KM content through this portal role.

Collaboration

This portal role provides access to Room Administration and to the My Tasks and My Sessions iViews.

Collaboration Room Creation

This portal role provides access to the room creation wizard and to the administration of the user’s own rooms. Users can administrate rooms that they are assigned to as follows:

     As the room owner

     As an administrator (room role with special administration permission)
