E-Mail content is unencrypted, and Java mail does not support SSL over IMAP/SMTP/POP3. We recommend that you use HTTPS for communication with mail servers.

RFC connections can be protected using Secure Network Communications (SNC). HTTP connections are protected using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.
