Purpose

This documentation is aimed at system and network administrators. You will learn about the configurations necessary for SAP Systems (R/3 or R/2) to be able to communicate with each other and with external programs and systems.

Recommendation

If you want to connect an SAP Web Application Server System to an external system, SAP recommends you use the standalone gateway 4.6D.
