Scroll Bars

If there is no scroll bar displayed in a workbook:

  1. Choose Extras ® Options from the Excel main menu. This brings you to the Options dialog box.
  2. Select View > Window Options > Horizontal Scroll Bar or Vertical Scroll Bar.
  3. Save your entries.

Note

If, on the other hand, you do not want to see the scroll bars, deactivate the options Horizontal Scroll Bar or Vertical Scroll Bar.

Freezing Columns

If you want to freeze a column:

  1. Select the column on the right of the column that you want to freeze.
  2. Choose Window ® Freeze from the Excel main menu. The columns you freeze do not move when you use the scroll bar.

If you want to stop the freeze function, choose Window ® Remove Freeze.

Note

You can also use this function for rows. You can also freeze individual cells with a column and row freeze.

Sheet Protection

If you activate the sheet protection function in Excel (under Extras ® Protection ® Sheet...), you put most of the Business Explorer functions out of use. Therefore, use the SAP Sheet Protection instead.

Formatting

You can format the workbook cells by using Excel functions. This goes for the cells of the query, too (title, filter cells, text elements, results area). However, when you refresh the query, the standard formatting for the query cells is restored and the settings for these cells are lost.

The Business Explorer Analyzer uses the Excel concept of format templates Formatting results areas, filter cells, and cell areas for header information. Cells of the same type always have the same format template assigned to them. The format template applies to the entire workbook.

Changing the format template in the current workbook:

  1. Choose Format ® Format Template from the Excel main menu. This brings you to the Format Template dialog box.
  2. Choose Change... and make the required settings.

Recommendation

We recommend you change the formatting of query cells by using the BEx toolbar.

    1. Select the cells where you want to change the format.
    2. Choose Formatting® Font/Pattern/Border/Alignment
    3. Make the required changes and choose OK.

If you need a specific format template to format a workbook in the BEx Analyzer, and the template does not exist yet in the workbook, copy the standard definition of all BEx-specific format templates as well as the BEx-specific standard color chart.
