The document contains the documentation text and is assigned to a particular document class. When you write a document the standard heading for the specific document class is shown.

In general, the documentation on an object consists of a single document. In the following situations it could, however, be comprised of more than one object:

The document for a data element, containing the data element definition, can be supplemented by a document belonging to the class of data element supplements.

Documents belonging to the class of general texts can be included at any location, i.e. in documents of all classes.

A document can contain a link to another document offering users the option to request further information if required. This referenced document can in turn contain a further link or include a general text.
