Assigning Portal Roles for Collaboration to
Users 
Permissions for activities in the portal are stored in portal roles. SAP delivers predefined portal roles that give portal users permission for specific tasks.

You can tailor the portal roles delivered and their permissions to suit the requirements of your company.
To give users permissions for access to Collaboration applications and for performing specific Collaboration activities, you assign them the relevant portal role.
