Managing Assortment ListsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

You have created at least one assortment list. For more information, see Creating an Assortment List.

Context

This procedure lists the various activities that you can carry out on previously created assortment lists.

Procedure

  1. Display assortment lists.

Each time you launch My Assortment Lists (Version 2) app, all previously created assortment lists are displayed. The list is sorted to show the most recently modified assortment lists on top.

For each assortment list, you can review the following:

    • Information: Provides general information about the assortment list, such as the name of the product hierarchy used, reference and validity periods, name of the last person who modified the assortment list, and so on.

Here, you can also review KPIs retrieved from a merchandise plan, such as one created using SAP Merchandise Planning for Retail. For more information, see the Customizing activity description under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Assortment Planning for Retail Next navigation step Imported Demand Data Foundation Settings Next navigation step Integration Next navigation step Define SAP BW Application for Merchandise Planning End of the navigation path.

    • Categories: Displays an overview of the categories included in the assortment list. For each category you can evaluate the following:

      Table 1: Assortment list categories

      Column

      Description

      No. of Options (Option Plan)

Specifies the number of options planned for a category in the option planning workbooks.

This column only has values if you have associated an option plan to your assortment list. For more information, see Creating an Assortment List.

      No. of Options (Kept)

Specifies the number of kept products (or combinations of generic products and specific values of the aggregation attribute) for a category in the assortment list.

If you are using option planning, one of your goals is to achieve a list of products in the assortment list such that the No. of Options (Kept) is equal to No. of Options (Option Plan).

      Sales at Retail (Merchandise Plan)

Specifies the planned sales at retail for a category, retrieved from a merchandise plan.

      Sales at Cost (Merchandise Plan)

Specifies the planned sales at cost for a category, retrieved from a merchandise plan.

      Sales Units (Merchandise Plan)

Specifies the planned sales units for a category, retrieved from a merchandise plan.

For each category that has at least one product in the Keep status, you can drill down on a category name to display the list of products included the category as well as the number of variants for each product.

  2. Search for a particular assortment list.

You can enter search criteria, such as the assortment name, category name (only categories explicitly selected in the assortment list), option plan name, location cluster set name, or sales organization, directly in the search field to facilitate your search. Alternatively, you can choose the filter icon and select custom filtering criteria.

  3. Carry out any of the following activities on the assortment list:
    • Edit an assortment list.

For each assortment list, you can change the following:

      • Settings, products, or locations selected during the Creating an Assortment List procedure.

Note If you change the option plan associated with the assortment list, the application attempts to preserve as many product to module assignments as possible. For example, if the new option plan is missing one module that was available in the old option plan, the assignment of products to the missing module is removed from the assortment list, while the assignment of products to all other modules is preserved. For more information, see Set Product Status and Module Assignment Manually.
      • Selections that you have made during the Managing Assortment List Categories procedure.

      • Time Dependent Product Hierarchy

The product hierarchy reflects the parent and child relationship for the selected validity period. Changing the validity period of an asssortment list affects the product count. The parent node will be dependent on the products belonging to the child nodes.

    • Activate an assortment list.

You can only activate an assortment list once at least one of its products is either in a Keep or Drop status.

An assortment list can be in one of the following statuses:

      Table 2: Assortment list statuses

      Assortment List Status

      Assortment List Lock Status

      Description

      In Progress

      Active

The assortment list has been finalized and is available for use by follow-on planning processes, such as the My Assortment Plans (Version 2) app. You can edit and delete this assortment list .

      In Use

      Unlocked

The assortment list is currently being used by one of the follow-on planning processes, but you can still edit and delete this assortment list.

      Restricted Lock

The assortment list is currently being used by one of the follow-on planning processes and you can perform limited editing on this assortment list. For instance, you can add new products or locations and carry out category management activities.

By default, when an assortment list is used by an assortment plan, its lock status is set to Restricted Lock.*

      Locked

The assortment list is currently being used by one of the follow-on planning processes and you can no longer edit or delete this assortment list. If necessary, you can copy the assortment list and make changes to the copy.

By default, when an assortment list is used by an assortment plan which has been refined, its lock status is set to Locked.*

      * To change the default assortment list lock status management, provide a custom implementation of BAdI: Determine Assortment List Use by Applications under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Assortment Planning for Retail Next navigation step Enhancements Using Business Add-Ins End of the navigation path.

    • Delete an assortment list.

    • Copy an assortment list.

When you copy an assortment list that contains placeholder products (PHPs), you can select whether to copy the PHPs contained in the source assortment list into the assortment list copy. The PHPs are copied as follows:

      • If you copy a PHP which has not yet been matched in the Match Placeholders app, the PHP is created in the assortment list copy with a new ID, and not as a reference to the original PHP. Also, the description and attributes of each PHP are preserved in the assortment list copy.

      • If, prior to the copy, a PHP has already been matched to an existing product using the Match Placeholders app, the matched product is copied into the assortment list copy.

    • Rename an assortment list.

    • Cancel editing, save or save as.

You can cancel any editing that you have performed and return to the original assortment list.

To keep your edits, you can use the Save functionality to save the edited assortment list with the same name as the existing assortment list, thereby, overwriting the assortment list. Alternatively, you can use the Save As functionality to save the edited version with a new name to create a new assortment list.

Note If you add or remove categories in an assortment list that is being used by an assortment plan, and save this assortment list, the assortment plan is automatically updated with these changes. This default behavior is controlled by BAdI: Define Assortment Plan Updates, found in Customizing under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Assortment Planning for Retail Next navigation step Enhancements Using Business Add-Ins End of the navigation path.
