Work with existing location cluster sets.
You have created at least one cluster set. For more information, see Creating a Location Cluster Set.
This procedure lists the various activities that you can carry out on previously created location cluster sets.
Each time you launch the Manage Location Clusters app, the app displays all previously created location cluster sets. For each location cluster set, you can review the following:
Information: Provides general information about the cluster set, such as the number of clusters in the location cluster set, name of the creator and the reference period. If smart clustering was used to create the location cluster set, the clustering criteria are also displayed.
Clusters: Displays a list of clusters included in the cluster set as well as the locations included in each cluster and the clustering criteria used to form the clusters.
Only location cluster sets that consist entirely of locations that you are authorized to display are listed.
The authorization to display locations is controlled by the active implementation of BAdI: Distribution Chain-Based Authority Check and the underlying authorization object /DMF/DISCH.
For more information, see the DDF Customizing under SAP Customizing Implementation Guide Cross-Application Components Demand Data Foundation Basic Settings Organizational Data Enhancements Using Business Add-Ins BAdI: Distribution Chain-Based Authority Check .
A location cluster set can be in one of the following statuses:
Location Cluster Set Status |
Location Cluster Set Lock Status |
Description |
---|---|---|
In Progress |
NA |
You, or another assortment planner, are still working on this location cluster set. You can edit and delete this location cluster set and it is not available to any follow-on planning processes. |
Active |
NA |
The location cluster set has been finalized and is available for use by follow-on planning processes, such as the My Option Plans app or the My Assortment Plans (Version 2) app. You can edit and delete this location cluster set. |
In Use |
Unlocked |
The location clusters set is currently being used by one of the follow-on planning processes, but you can still edit and delete this location cluster set. |
Restricted Lock |
The location clusters set is currently being used by one of the follow-on planning processes and you can perform limited editing on this location cluster set. For instance, you can add new locations and move locations between clusters, but you cannot add new clusters, use Smart Clustering, or delete the location cluster set. By default, when a location cluster set is used by an option plan, an assortment list, or an assortment plan which has not been refined or listed, its lock status is set to Restricted Lock.* |
|
Locked |
The location clusters set is currently being used by one of the follow-on planning processes and you can no longer edit or delete this cluster set. If necessary, you can copy the cluster set and make changes to the copy. By default, when a location cluster set is used by an assortment plan which has been refined or listed, its lock status is set to Locked.* |
|
* To change the default location cluster set lock status management, provide a custom implementation of BAdI: Determine Location Cluster Set Usage under Cross-Application Components Assortment Planning for Retail Imported Demand Data Foundation Settings Data Maintenance Location Clustering Enhancements Using Business Add-Ins . |
Modify the display of location cluster set details.
You can select whether to display the clusters as a tree structure (Grouped) or as a list (Listed). You can also choose whether to display the scatter plot graph of the location cluster set, which presents the distribution of locations to clusters, in graphical form. If you chose to display the scatter plot graph, you can change the clustering criteria used as the axes of the graph.
Using Time Dependent Product Hierarchy
Changing the validity period of a cluster set may affect the product count of the cluster set selected.
If you selected a node that no longer exists or its parent does not exist due to a change in the validity period, then remove the node and the corresponding products are removed.
If the parent node was selected then the new child is added automatically.
If the children were selected, then the new child is not added automatically.
Rename the individual clusters of the cluster set.
Each cluster represents a group of locations that are similar based on the selected clustering criteria. You can modify the default name assigned to each of the clusters. The name should be meaningful, allowing you to quickly identify the locations grouped in this cluster. For example, if you are creating three clusters based on location size, you can name the clusters as Small Stores, Medium Stores and Large Stores.
Move locations between clusters.
When you use smart clustering, the Manage Location Clusters app suggests the best possible clustering based on the clustering criteria and filters that you have selected. If required, you can manually move locations from one cluster to another.
Selecting locations in the list or on the scatter plot graph and choose Move Location. Specify the cluster to move the locations to. On the scatter plot graph, the location icons are moved to the new cluster, but retain their original color indicator so that you can easily identify the moved locations.
Apply alternate filters to existing cluster sets.
Each location cluster set is created based on a defined set of filters (see Selecting Settings and Filters). However, once a cluster set is created, it might be useful to see how changing the original filters might affect the location clustering.
For example, you selected a one-year long date range as a reference period during the clustering. You examine the generated location cluster set. You want to see how selecting a two-year date range would affect the clustering results. You select Settings, and specify a two-year date range. The locations and their assignments to clusters remain unchanged. However, the KPI figures under each clustering criteria and the position of each location on the scatter plot are updated.
You examine the KPI figures and the scatter plot graph and either:
Leave the clusters unchanged.
Manually move locations between clusters.
Run smart clustering given the new filters and evaluate the proposed results.
Cancel editing, save or save as.
You can cancel any editing that you have performed and return to the original location clustering results.
To keep your edits, you can use the Save functionality to save the edited location cluster set with the same name as the existing cluster set, thereby, overwriting the cluster set. Alternatively, you can use the Save As functionality to save the edited version with a new name to create a new cluster set.
Export the location cluster set as a .csv file, by choosing Export as CSV. Once exported as a .csv file, the location cluster set data can be used in other applications, such as SAP Lumira.
