Usage and Adaptation of Predefined
Content
Reference models and predefined content enable you to develop and implement process models in a simpler and more efficient manner. Business Process Management in SAP NetWeaver provides reference models and defined content for all levels of process modeling. This enables you to actively and efficiently control and advance the implementation of business scenarios, business processes, and process steps.
You want to introduce an SAP solution into your company. You choose the time and cost-efficient approach to this implementation project and use the following predefined content that is provided by this scenario variant:
● SAP Solution Manager
SAP Solution Manager supports you during the entire life cycle of your solutions – from the Business Blueprint to configuration to production operation. SAP Solution Manager provides central access to tools, methods and preconfigured contents, which you can use during evaluation and implementation, as well as in the operation of your systems.
● ARIS for SAP NetWeaver
ARIS for SAP NetWeaver provides various functions to evaluate, refine, and optimize business processes.
By synchronizing SAP Solution Manager with ARIS for SAP NetWeaver you create the connection between the SAP solution and your company’s business processes.
● Process Integration (XI)
If your implementation project involves integrating third-party or legacy systems, you create the relevant integration scenarios and processes. You can link these with the process models for a variety of different abstraction levels. You can also access predefined content for integration scenarios and integration processes.
To use this scenario variant you require the following installable units:
System with activated usage types:
● PI - Process Integration (XI)
● Application Server ABAP (AS ABAP)
● Application Server JAVA (AS JAVA)
Other:
● You also need SAP Solution Manager.
● You can use ARIS for SAP NetWeaver as the modeling environment. For detailed information about ARIS for SAP NetWeaver, see the vendor documentation.
This scenario variant comprises the following IT processes:
Process |
Description |
You create a process map in ARIS for SAP NetWeaver, analyze the processes by using the relevant reports and diagrams, and determine the scope of the software implementation project. You then synchronize the project with SAP Solution Manager to make the reference process models shipped by SAP available in ARIS for SAP NetWeaver. |
|
You change the reference process models in ARIS for SAP NetWeaver to suit your needs and requirements. If you want to integrate third-party or legacy systems, you create the relevant integration scenarios based on the scope determined for the implementation project. Using these integration scenarios, you then define executable integration processes. Again, you can select and adapt predefined content to do this. |
|
You use the reference models in SAP Solution Manager to configure the applications of your implementation project. For the implementation of integration scenarios and processes to integrate third-party or legacy systems, you use the relevant metadata, such as XML message types. Again, predefined content is available to do this. Finally, you configure the integration scenarios and processes to suit your specific system landscape. |
|
The system executes the defined processes at runtime. |
|
SAP Solution Manager provides you with an extensive range of functions for monitoring your solutions. Monitoring functions are available for integration scenarios and integration processes; you can use them to monitor the processing of XML messages and throughput, in addition to the processing of integration processes. |
