Blocking and Allocation of Number
Ranges
You can use this function if you want to reserve a number range or part of a number range for an external system that is not connected to SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure (SAP AII).
You have created a number range.
You can block a number range if you want to reserve a complete number range for an external system. You can allocate part of a number range if you only want to reserve some numbers in a number range for an external system.
You can block and allocate number ranges on the SAP Easy Access screen under Auto-ID Infrastructure ® Master Data ® Number Ranges ® Number Range Administration.
● Blocking number ranges
To block a complete number range for an external system, you select the number range and choose Block Number Ranges. You enter the name of the external system in the Destination System field. The current number is set to the Serial Number To number and the status of the number range is set to Blocked. It is not possible to edit or delete a blocked number range.
● Allocating number ranges
To reserve part of a number range for an external system, you select the number range and choose Allocate Number Range. You enter the size of the interval that you want to allocate in the Size field and the name of the external system in the Destination System field. The size of the interval is added to the current number, as the numbers in the interval have effectively been consumed. The status of the number range is not affected.
If you select a number range, the logging entries for the number range are displayed on the UI.
