Function documentation Order Confirmations  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

In Purchasing, the term confirmation is an umbrella term for various kinds of information provided by a vendor to a customer with regard to ordered goods.

Possible types of confirmation include the following:

Use

You are able to process data at SKU level in the order confirmation. If you want to work with confirmations, specify a confirmation control key in the item detail of the purchase order. When you create an order confirmation, the quantities are copied from the purchase order at SKU level. You can transfer the quantities confirmed and possibly changed in the order confirmation as default values to the goods receipt processing.

Features

SKU Data in the Order Confirmation

The processing of data in the order confirmation essentially corresponds to the procedure in all purchasing documents.

You have two options for creating an order confirmation for AFS materials.

Relevance for the MRP Run

AFS uses the functions of the R/3 Standard Order Confirmation, so that all MRP-relevant confirmation levels are considered in an MRP run.

If desired, you can use a special AFS order confirmation logic instead. In AFS only the respective confirmations with the highest confirmation category are considered in an MRP run. As soon as the system finds a confirmation with a higher category, all the confirmations with lower categories will no longer be considered in the MRP run. If the confirmation with the highest category is a partial confirmation, the unconfirmed quantities will be identified in the stock / requirements list with the stock type B and with the delivery date entered in the purchase order.

If you want to use the special AFS order confirmation logic, you must have the SAP support activate it.

Restrictions

Each order confirmation is basically processed at SKU level. It is not possible to process confirmations at item level.

Note

You can also authorize your vendor to send you confirmations via the Internet.
