Procedure documentation Maintain Layer  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You can create comments for an original application file without changing the original application file itself. You save these comments in a layer. Users can check these comments, and perhaps change them, or add their own remarks in a new layer.

The procedure does not dependent on the format of the original application files.

Prerequisites

You display the original application file with the integrated viewer in the standard SAP system.

Create Layer

You can create a layer from the viewer function bar as well as from the redlining function bar.

Note

In the viewer function bar the entry Layer appears when at least one layer exists for an original application file.

When one or more layers are loaded, and you want to use redlining functions, then you should check which layers are loaded. Click on Layer. You see a list of all existing layers.

Creating Layers Using the Viewer Function Bar

The viewer function bar is active if you display the original application file with the integrated viewer in the SAP system.

  1. In the viewer function bar select Tools ® Redlining.
  2. When no layer is currently active, the Layer name dialog box appears. The system creates a new layer.

  3. Enter a layer name in the dialog box, and confirm the data with This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

The remainder of the procedure depends on whether you have redlining categories maintained for your enterprise in Customizing.

Double-click on the desired category and the system assigns the new layer that is to be created to this category.

Creating Layers Using the Redlining Function Bar

You display the original application file with the integrated viewer in the standard system. You selected the redlining function in the viewer function bar (Tools ® Redlining) and the redlining function bar is active.

The dialog box Layer name appears.

Change Layer

You display the original application file with the integrated viewer in the standard SAP system, and the viewer function bar is active.

  1. Choose Layer.

You see a list of all existing layers. You can use the context menu to display the attributes of the active layer, such as redlining category.

  1. Double-click on the desired layer to see the comments made in the text.
  1. Choose Tools ® Redlining.

The redlining function bar contains all the functions you can use in the current processing situation, such as:

You can return to the application function bar of the viewer by selecting This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
