Use

You need to select translators so that you can assign collections to them or delete their collection assignments.

Prerequisites

·        Translators have been created in the translation system.

·        Your translator profile includes the authorization USCO with the value 01.

Procedure

The procedure depends on whether you have been created as a coordinator for all languages (language ****) or for just one language.

       1.      Select the collections to be assigned.

       2.      Choose Continue.

If you have been defined as a coordinator for one or more specific target languages, the Translators dialog box is displayed.

...

                            a.      Select the translators in this dialog box.

                            b.      Choose Execute.

If you have been defined as a coordinator for all languages, the Translators dialog box is displayed.

...

...

                            a.      If you want to select all of the translators defined in the system, choose the Choose pushbutton next to Total.

                            b.      If you want to select a specific translator, or translators belonging to a specific namespace, enter the name of the translator (or the namespace followed by the placeholder *) in the field next to Generic and choose one of the pushbuttons.

                            c.      If you want to select all of the translators for a specific target language, select the target language with one of the pushbuttons next to Target Languages.

                            d.      If you want to assign the selected collections to translators to whom other collections have already been assigned, choose one of the pushbuttons next to Collections.

                                                  i.       The Collections dialog box is displayed. Select the collections that are already assigned to the translators.

ii.       The Translators dialog box is displayed again. The translators, to whom the collections you selected in the previous step are assigned, are now selected.

 Example

You have assigned two new collections, X and Y, to an existing translation graph called ABC. You now want to assign these collections to all of the translators to whom the collections, which were already assigned to translation graph ABC before collections X and Y were added, are already assigned. You are defined as a translation coordinator for all languages. First, you select collections X and Y. In the Translators dialog box, you choose the Collections pushbutton. In the Collections dialog box, you choose the Choose pushbutton next to Graph and then select translation graph XYZ. To return to the Translators dialog box, you choose Continue. The Preselection field shows you that you have selected five translators. You select Fine Tune Result ® Standard, and see that these translators translate into four target languages. You save your selection. Collections X and Y are now assigned to these five translators as well. A duplicate assignment exists for at least one target language.

                            e.      If you want to assign the collections to translators you have already copied to the clipboard, enter the required target language next to Clipboard and choose one of the pushbuttons.

                              f.      To transfer a selection you have already made from Fine Tune Result to Preselection, choose one of the pushbuttons next to Selection.

       3.      Different pushbuttons are available for the various selection options. You start a new selection or delete an existing selection with the pushbutton Choose. You can create unions and differences with the icons Insert Rows and Delete Rows to increase or decrease your selection. You cannot create unions or differences until you have selected at least one set of translators.

       4.      The number of selected translators is displayed next to the Preselection field.

Example

You are organizing a translation project, and want to select the translators who work for agencies ABC and XYZ. You have prefixed your translators’ user names with three-character codes. These codes stand for the agencies at which the translators work. In the field next to Generic, you enter the value ABC* and choose the Choose pushbutton. The Preselection field shows you that 15 translators whose user names start with the prefix ABC have been selected. You then enter the value XYZ* in the Generic field and choose Insert Rows. 20 translators whose user names start with the prefix XYZ are now added to the translators already selected for agency ABC. The total value 35 is now displayed. A short while later, you learn that the translators at agency ABC are not available after all. You enter the prefix ABC* in the field next to Generic again, but this time you choose the Delete Rows icon. The translators at agency ABC are now removed from the preselection. The total value is 20.

       5.      If you do not need all of the translators in the preselection, select the translators you really want by using the pushbuttons under Fine Tune Result. To do so, choose the Standard pushbutton and select the required translators.

       6.      Choose Execute.

Example

You have included all of the translators working at agency XYZ in your preselection. There are 20 such translators in total. Most of these translators really will translate. However, the translators XYZ_MEIER and XYZ_BECKER are on vacation during the project, which means they cannot do any of the translation work. You choose Fine Tune Result ® Standard. As a default value, all of the translators in the Translators dialog box are selected. To exclude XYZ_MEIER and XYZ_BECKER from your selection, you deselect their user names and choose Execute. You save your selection before returning to the Translators dialog box. In the Translators dialog box, a total value of 33 is displayed next to Result. The value 35 is still displayed in the Preselection field.

       7.      Save your selection.

Result

The collections are now assigned to the translators. Alternatively, the collection assignments have been deleted.
