Use

Demonstration objects are result lists that are created by system scans. These system scans can be performed in two different ways:

You can use demonstration objects created by scanning the proposal pool to do terminology work, for example. It is possible, for example, to create demonstration objects that contain proposals created by a specific translator in a specific period. Another option is to perform a generic search for specific terms that are used in short text objects if, for example, you need to make a terminology change.

Top texts are a typical result of demonstration objects created by scanning the source texts. All source texts are scanned for those source texts that occur frequently. The system calculates how often each source text occurs. A list is then created, starting with the most frequently occurring texts at the top. Translators can then examine these top texts and decide whether the translation of the source text into a specific target language is unique. If this is the case, they can assign a high quality status to their proposals to ensure that these source texts are translated by automatic distribution. The next time an evaluation runs, the translations are distributed automatically. For example, if you can enter a unique translation in the proposal pool for a source text that occurs 1,000 times in the system, you only need to create the proposal once. You can then automatically distribute the proposal 1,000 times.

You create demonstration objects in transaction LXE_MASTER, and translate them in transaction SE63 using the short text editor. You can call them up directly (using the object type shortcut DEMS), or you can include them in a worklist.

Caution

To create demonstration objects and then use them correctly, you need a good understanding of the relationships between the functions in transaction LXE_MASTER, the proposal pool, and automatic distribution. Top texts in particular presuppose that the proposal pool is of high quality, and that your translators are experienced. If used incorrectly, incorrect translations could be automatically distributed for the source texts that most frequently occur in your system. It would be very difficult to correct this later. You are therefore advised to ask SAP for advice before using this function. To do so, please contact your account manager.
