Determines how a voluntary deduction from an employee's remuneration is processed.

The arrears characteristic determines how a deduction is processed if an employee's net remuneration is less than the sum of all deductions. You assign arrears characteristics to individual deduction wage types in Customizing for Payroll.

Example

An arrears characteristic can stipulate that a deduction must be processed in full even if an employee's net remuneration consists of a negative amount as a result.
