Assigning Projects

Use

Projects, such as the construction of a crane, usually involve several profit centers (for the design of the motor, for the construction of the frame, and so on). The assignment can therefore be performed in various assignable operational structures:

project definition

WBS elements

network header

network activities

By assigning project structures to a profit center, you can observe all costs and revenues posted to the structures in the corresponding profit centers. These assignments also make it possible for you to transfer work in process from projects to Profit Center Accounting.

Features

You can assign a profit center to the project globally in the project definition.

If no profit center has been entered here, project data is posted to the dummy profit center.

You can assign each WBS element to a profit center.

If no profit center has been entered here, project data is posted to the profit center in the project definition.

With header-assigned networks, the profit center to which the network header is assigned is used.

If an activity-assigned network activity is not assigned to a profit center, the system uses the profit center of the WBS element assigned to it.

With activity-assigned networks, the profit center to which the network activity is assigned is used.

If an activity-assigned network activity is not assigned to a profit center, the system uses the profit center of the WBS element assigned to it.

If no profit center has been entered here, project data is posted to the profit center in the network header.

Activities

To assign projects, choose Master data ® Current settings from the application menu, then choose Assignment: Projects.
