Creating a CO Product Group

Single Entry

To create a single CO product group:

Choose Accounting ® Controlling ® Product Cost Controlling ® Cost Object Controlling ® Product Cost by Period or Product Cost by Order. ® Information System ® Summarized Analysis ® Product Groups ® Create.

The screen Create Product Group:Basic Screen appears.

Enter the name of the new product group.

This name is language-independent.

Enter a product group as a template if desired (Copy from).

Choose Basic screen.

The screen Create Product Group:Basic Screen appears.

Enter a description for the product group.

This description is language-dependent.

If the product group you are creating is not the highest level of the hierarchy, enter the name of the higher-level product group.

Enter the controlling area for which this product group is valid.

To assign single objects (materials) to the product group:

Choose Goto ® Single objects ® Change assignment.

The screen Assign Single Objects: Overview appears.

Choose Edit ® New entries.

Enter the following data for each material you want to assign to the product group:

Plant
Material

Go back.
Save the product group.

Collective Entry

To create multiple CO product groups using list entry:

Choose Accounting ® Controlling ® Product Cost Controlling ® Cost Object Controlling ® Product Cost by Period or Product Cost by Order. ® Information System ® Tools ® Summarized Analysis ® Product Groups ® Collective Entry.

The screen Create Product Groups: Basic Screen appears.

Enter the following data for each product group that you want to create:

Name of the product group
Higher-level product group (if the product group you are creating is not the highest level of the hierarchy).
Controlling area
Short text for product group

Save the product groups.

Material Assignment

To assign materials to the CO product groups:

Choose Accounting ® Controlling ® Product Cost Controlling ® Cost Object Controlling ® Product Cost by Period or Product Cost by Order. ® Information System ® Tools ® Summarized Analysis ® Product Groups ® Material Assignment.

The screen Assignment of Materials to CO Product Group appears.

Enter the product group to which you want to assign materials.

Choose whether you want to make a standard selection or a selection through the function module exit.

Limit the materials by plant, material number and material type.

Choose Execute.

A list appears with all the materials that meet your selection criteria.

Delete the selections of the materials that you don’t want to assign to the product group.

Save your data.

Note

If errors occur during assignment of a material to your product group, you will receive a list on which these materials are selected. Note that a particular material can only be assigned to one product group.
