The following checks are available to you in article hierarchy maintenance:

When you are assigning nodes or articles the strict hierarchy of the tree is checked. The definition of nodes is checked when you carry out multiple assignments. A node can only be assigned once to a node of an article hierarchy. The uniqueness of the assignment also applies to the article assignment. In every article hierarchy, an article can be assigned only once.

If you activate an article hierarchy or change an active article hierarchy a check is done to ensure that all articles assigned to the hierarchy are assigned to the lowest node of the hierarchy.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

In the Customizing table MATGRP_CUST, you can, as of PI 2002.1, control whether articles from the value-only category should be excluded from the article end node check. If the indicator is set for the end node check, a check is also carried out for value-only articles to ensure that the articles in an active hierarchy are only attached to end nodes. If the indicator is not set, no end node check is carried out for value-only articles.

When you are maintaining the attributes of a node, the system checks whether the indicator category is set. If this is the case, a role and a strategy can be assigned to the node that is defined as a category. A strategy can also be assigned to each category assigned node.

If the article hierarchy is to be transferred to the product hierarchy a check is done to see:
