Purpose
You define language-independent document templates using certain objects and symbols in a modified version of Microsoft Word (
Windows Wordprocessor Integration (WWI)) (see Document Types in Reporting).Prerequisites
When editing report templates, system performance can be improved if you make the settings in Word to display hidden text. To do this, under Tools

Inserting Phrases
If you want to insert phrase texts, codes, graphics, the language for a phrase, or comments about phrases, you must have edited them in phrase management in the SAP System.
Inserting Symbols
You can check all symbols in the IMG activity Check and Specify Report Symbols in Customizing for Product Safety.
According to the symbol group defined in the IMG activity Specify Report Symbol Groups in Customizing for Product Safety, you use the Insert symbol function to insert field values, characteristic values, or phrases from phrase-related characteristics. The fields can belong to tables in the SAP component Product Safety or other SAP components.

Before you return to R/3 from WWI, check the layout you created.
Result
In order to create a
report from the released report template, you must assign a generation variant (see Generation Variant Editing).For report templates with specification symbols, you can
test a simulation of the expanded layout of the report and print it if required. The report template must have the status Released or In work.You cannot simulate reports without references to specifications, cover sheets, and acknowledgements of receipt before their final version has been generated.
