Use

You can use this process to generate or change data for a planning hierarchy version automatically. The characteristic values (for example, purchasing organization 0001) and the related proportional factors are defined using movement data.

Planning hierarchies define the total planning framework. This means that you can only execute planning for characteristic values that are used in the planning hierarchy.

Prerequisites

You can only use and create characteristic values that were previously used as planning characteristics when Customizing the planning step in question.

Suitable actual and planning data must exist if you want to use movement data to setup planning hierarchies.

Procedure

  1. Select the planning scenario and planning step that you want to create or change the hierarchy for. Go to the selection screen.
  2. Define the scope for your planning. The following example illustrates how to define the scope of planning that you should select to achieve a certain structure in your planning:

  4. Decide if you want to use actual or planning data when generating the planning hierarchy. Enter the plan version that contains the data you want to use in Base planning data.
  5. Enter the time period for the selection.
  6. Choose the proportional factors to be defined and choose a planning key figure for each one.
  7. Enter a planning hierarchy version and decide if existing data is to be overwritten.
  8. Start generating the planning hierarchy immediately. Alternatively, generate the planning hierarchy as a background job. Schedule a background job for this, if you want to generate the planning hierarchy in the background.

Results

The planning hierarchy is generated immediately or as a background job.
