Generating Data for a Version of a Planning Hierarchy

Use

Use this function to generate data for a planning hierarchy version manually or automatically.

The planning hierarchy defines the planning frame. Planning can only be run for the characteristic features defined in the planning hierarchy. Use different versions of the planning hierarchy to manage alternative disaggregation rules.

Use planning hierarchy versions to do the following:

Compare information in planning hierarchy maintenance

You can view a maximum of two comparative versions in hierarchy maintenance, thereby enabling you to compare current and historical proportional factors immediately.

More than one proportional factor in different plan versions

Plan versions differentiate alternative plans. A planning hierarchy version is assigned to a plan version. You can therefore use different planning hierarchy versions and proportional factors to create alternative plans.

For example, you have created planning hierarchy version PH1 automatically. Then you copied PH1 into planning hierarchy version PH2 and processed it manually. Planning hierarchy version PH1 is then assigned to plan version P1 and planning hierarchy version PH2 is assigned to plan version P2. You can now compare the way different proportional factors influence your planning.

Features

Using the following methods to generate planning data for your planning hierarchy version:

Manual setup: characteristic features and proportional factors are defined manually.
Automatic setup: movement data is used to find characteristic features and proportional factors. Use actual and planning data to calculate proportional factors for one of the key figures that you have chosen. To do this, the system contacts the database table (info structure) defined in the planning step. The time period for selecting planning and actual data can be selected freely.

Limit planning levels

Analyze all plan characteristics (planning levels) and the entire planning hierarchy.

Limit your planning to a particular part of the hierarchy by blocking higher planning levels in the hierarchy.

Limit the characteristics for each planning level

As well as being able to generate data manually and automatically, you can also copy a complete planning hierarchy or parts of a planning hierarchy. They can then be configured to match your requirements.
