To read about the requirements for using multiple value flows in the material ledger, see Multiple Values for Material Stocks Using the Material Ledger.

The following scenarios make it possible for you to activate multiple valuations in the material ledger:

Scenario 1: The material ledger is not yet active

The material ledger is not yet active and therefore can be activated for the desired valuation approaches. No conflicts can arise with data already posted in other currencies or valuations.

Scenario 2: The material ledger is already active

The material ledger is already active for multiple currencies. These currencies correspond to the group currency. Legacy data does not need to be translated.

After analyzing the current situation in detail, you can change the currency type (combination of currency and valuation view) on a project basis using a special conversion program. The system acts as if this currency type had been active the whole time.

Scenario 3: The material ledger is already active

The material ledger is already active for multiple currencies.

This scenario is based on the assumption that the legacy data in the material ledger is no longer relevant following the change of valuation approach. Consequently, you can deactivate the material ledger and then change the currency type. Then reactivate the material ledger. When you do so, the system deletes all the existing data in the material ledger and recreates it using the new currency and valuation settings.

Scenario 4: The material ledger is already active

The material ledger is already active for multiple currencies. You still want to be able to use the legacy data, and the currency keys used are not the same as the group currency.

In this scenario, you must proceed as you do when converting the data for the euro. The system converts the currency key as well as translates the values. This procedure is highly complex and can only be carried out on a project basis.
