Use

The Retail Ledger is an application available to you from the area of accounting. Technically, it is based on the Structure linkSpecial Purpose Ledgers and is specially designed for use in Retail.

The Retail Ledger is used for collecting actual data from Financial Accounting, Controlling, Human Resources, Sales and Distribution, Materials Management and from external data.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Features

When you activate the Retail Ledger, a new dataset is created in the table group PCRRETAIL (ledger 7R). The aim of this is to replace the movement data from Profit Center Accounting (ledger 8A) for use in the area of Retail. Compared with ledger 8A the main difference is the data modeling of the table group PCRRETAIL which, in the aggregated data set (table PCRRETAIL), contains the characteristics profit center and cost center. The line items (tables PCRRETAILA and PCRRETAILP) should be regarded solely as detail information. The line items are not a basis for reporting, and they can, for example, be archived at the end of the financial year.

When the Retail Ledger is being used normally, data is transferred online. Data can, for example, be transferred periodically when a ledger is being set up.

In the settings for data transfer, there are functions that allow a subsequent posting, or lock the ledger for data. These settings are made for each company code.

The actual data transfer is done in two different ways:

It is important to note that if data aggregates within Financial Accounting it is possible that this may prevent data from being transferred in the level of detail required by the Retail Ledger. Ensure that if there is an aggregation of data within Financial Accounting, the requirements of the Retail Ledger are considered.

Transfer data periodically. To do this, start the program in parallel for different periods in the background.

    1. Actual data and statistical key figures from category 2 (totals values) are transferred to the Retail Ledger using "transfer actual data".
    2. For plan data there is a separate transaction.
    3. Statistical key figures from category 1 (constant values) are also transferred with a separate transaction.

Using the Retail Ledger you can now create simple reports with the help of the totals record display.

The following functions are also available:

For more information, see: Structure linkBalance Carryforward.

For more information, see: Structure linkArchiving.

Within the Retail Ledger, reporting, planning and other functions are possible in limited form, with the help of functionalities from the special purpose ledgers (FI-SL).

Note

You should note that separate reporting, for example, using the Report Painter is not planned, so no Report Painter reports for the Retail Ledger are delivered with the standard system.
