Use

With this type of distributed data processing, independent application systems are loosely (asynchronously) linked, enabling business information to be interchanged at different periods and for different events. SAP has configured a number of different distribution models covering a whole range of business requirements (such as linking a number of on-site logistics systems with central financials).

Features

A logical model of the complete system has to be created before a company can introduce a distributed, yet integrated system. The logical model defines which applications run on which systems and which information (messages) are to be exchanged in the form of intermediate documents (IDocs).
